The research focus of the Translational Proteomics Research Lab is the application of mass spectrometry (MS) based proteomics to understand human health and disease. The study of the proteome of patients, integrated with their clinical data, could lead to the improvement of patient diagnosis and stratification, contributing to development and implementation of precision medicine.

In the heart of one of the major research hospitals in France, the Translational Proteomics Research Lab develops innovative translational proteomics approaches, aiming to apply them to clinical research and transfer them into clinical practices.

The dynamic interaction between the Precision Medicine Proteomics Lab and the Necker Proteomics Platform ensures that cutting-edge mass spectrometry technology is available to all research teams.

Current Areas of Research

1. Precision proteomics for specific diseases. We are currently working on innovative proteomics approaches to :

   a. Find biomarkers for treatment response in Cystic fibrosis patients analyzing the sweat proteome;

   b. Understand mechanisms of myelomeningocele to improve prenatal cellular therapy through analysis of amniotic fluid;

   c. Understand Focal Epilepsy by studying LCR and brain biopsies to better stratify patients and personalize their treatment;

   d. Find biomarkers for treatment response and prognosis in Cystinuria patients by studying the proteome of urine and exosomes therein.

2. Universal analysis of plasma proteome to establish a personalized quantitative profiling (BloodID). BloodID profiling will integrate soluble plasmatic proteins and the circulating extracellular vesicles carrying cellular information. We believe that BloodID will allow the monitoring of individuals’ health and, in time, be transferrable in clinical practice.
